Lake Victoria North Water Services Board has just finalized the first phase of its programme to expand water and sanitation supply to the informal settlements in Select towns. The first such project was recently implemented in Mumias town in Kakamega County where a water supply extension to a number of informal settlements in the town has just been completed and operationalised under the Mumias Informal Settlement Water Supply project. The project was part of the bigger Water and Sanitation Improvement Programme (additional financing) being funded by the Government of Kenya and the World Bank.
